Hello, my name is William Henderson.
I would like to give you an idea of my background, my experience, and my reasons for writing this informational eBook.
After leaving the corporate world in the late 90’s, for a few years I was a general contractor who specialized in roofing.
We worked hailstorms and hurricanes. I met many insurance field adjusters who told me that I should look into becoming an adjuster. So I did.
I have been a licensed independent insurance adjuster (IA) for 19 years, also called a field adjuster.
My home was in the Midwest, but I deployed for Hurricanes Ivan, Wilma, Katrina, Ike, Isaac, Irene, Sandy, Matthew, Irma, Florence, Harvey, Ida, Sally, and most recently, Ian. I have worked hurricane claims in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, as well as daily claims and deployments across the Midwest for other storms.
After talking to many, many insureds, listening to what they don’t know, and what they think they know; seeing the work of other adjusters, some of which should not be in this field and some who are very good; and dealing with file reviewers of both claims companies and carriers; I felt the need to help homeowners in Hurricane Country be better prepared for what happens after the storm, when they need their insurance, and need to understand the insurance process.
As I mentioned, this eBook is for homeowners who live in Hurricane Country. The information is for hurricanes only. Some of this info can pertain to condo unit owners, but condos and homes are not the same, and neither is the insurance coverage.
Reading this eBook and using what you learn within it, will save you money. It may be a few dollars; it may be thousands of dollars or tens of thousands. I will not be teaching you your insurance policy. It’s a good idea to read your policy, but you won’t understand most of it anyways, almost no one does. I’ll be teaching you to understand what your adjuster will be telling you at the time of your inspection, what to expect and what questions to ask.
Good luck, and I know you’ll find this information beneficial.
